I currently use the cat-back TME exhaust and it gives off a very pleasant (but not loud) low sound. When the car is idling you actually hear very little when standing in front of the car, but behind the car you hear/feel a very low rumble.

I have had several compliments of BMW nuts who initially thought that I somehow squeezed a 6-cyl in the S40, based on the low sound and came to ask what was under the hood. Sorry guys, 'just' a 4-cyl turbo :-)

Inside the car it stays very composed and noise levels are just a tad over stock, but never unpleasant. When you open up the throttle you can really hear it start to take off. Very nice indeed.

My next planned upgrade is the TME 3" downpipe + metal-core cat annd perhaps their upgraded turbo for the T4, which adds the same twin-scroll housing as found on the phase-II T4's (and before that on the 2.0T's) for more low-rpm torque and a higher rated compressor wheel to move the higher boost pressure because of the ECU upgrade fall right in the 'sweet spot' of the turbo again (keep it runnin' cool).

Bye, Arno.
