Why does my 850 start smoking after 3 min of idle time ? 850 96

My throttle cable seperated at the firewall about two months ago. The engine would rev, so I adjusted the cable so the rev would stop. Then within two weeks this smoking started. If I leave the car idleing for more than about 3 minutes the car will start smoking. When I pull away I smoke out the area behind me.

The throttle cable has two wires coming from it right where it seperated, and there is a spring inside. So I figure something is monitoring the position of this cable and I have jinxed the monitoring. I believe the car thinks its going 40 mph when it is actually standing still. So I now have installed the new cable with correct idle and it is still smoking.

Do I need to reset something or have I permanently damage some other sensors that I now need to replace. Or should I have my engine compression checked and buy a new car ?

Thanks for any help.

Scott
