transmission clunk V70-XC70 2001

Recently bought from "a used-car lot" a very clean 2001 V70 T5 w/automatic transmission with only 111 K miles. Cosmetically gorgeous and everything on this car works. Has the third row seats and a Soccer Mom feel to it.So far so good.No maintenance records came with it, just the Original Window Sticker showing the original price in excess of $38 K. I rec'd a 30day/1500 mi. Limited Warranty on everything and am so far a week into it.

Problem: I find that the transmission sometimes but not always engages first gear with a clunk from a stop in traffic, like there's some play somewhere--disappointing. Didn't do that at all on my Test Drive. I've now driving with a 'light foot'. My question is, should I try to make a fuss at the used car lot
(where they sell a menagerie) and try to get rid of it right now, or is it likely that the car needs a good (and overdue) trans.fluid change ?

I'd sure appreciate some guidance/suggestions from you Brickboarders.
