Re: Speaker Replacement Advice 850 97R

Here is my experience. If you call Crutchfield, they will sell you 4 1/2 replacements....but the speakers are actually 5 1/4, with "wing like" tabs. You can find some 5 1/4' that fit...you should go to a car stereo store and pay the money. Re: the tweeters, you can get creative and put some new tweeters in the volvo plastic brackets. Finally, many sound problems and "bad sounding" speakers are simply a lack of clean power...so you might want to buy volvo's optional amp add-on if you don't already have it. I added an aftermarket amp for the rear four speakers. Great results, but it was a hobby project on and off for a couple of weeks. The wiring for the speakers is not intuitive.
