Traction control question... V70-XC70 1998

I live 1hour south of Madison WI. We got hit with a good snow yesterday. Im testng out the traction control. I have a 1998 V70 winter package. The question is, should my v70 spin the tiers when I floor it. When I step on the gas to take off, I take off, but if a nail it and want to see what happens, the tach goes up and after a bit the speedometer goes up. Just so everyone knows I pushed the trac. ctrl button to the OFF position and It acted like any normal car w/out trac. ctrl. My only other experience w/ trac. ctrl. was in 95 Saturn. You could floor it and it would only let you go as fast as not to let the tiers spin, no matter what. The wheels never spun. A friendly light came on and told you it was working....

anyone?

Thx in advance for my ?

Andy
