Turbo vs Non-Turbo V70-XC70

I recently purchased a 2000 V70 front wheel drive that doesn't have turbo in it. I'm used to Turbo so I'm wondering if there is any advantage to non-turbo. I assume that a non can't be converted to a Turbo. My old V70 shows fresh oil stains around the joint of the tube and turbo motor at 162,000. Turbos are mysterious to me. So I ask:
Are those oil stains serious?

is there an improvement in gas mileage with either turbo or non?

Was it a mistake to buy non-turbo?

Thanks for your time and consideration
