What could cause car to stop running? 850

Klaus, while it is true that the lights come on when the engine dies, it is for another reason. All the lights will illuminate when the alternator is not charging, which obviously happens when the car is not running (and in position II). It will also happen if the alternator has a bad connection, or worn brushes, etc.

OP- get a voltmeter on it, when the car is running it should have 14+ volts (up to 16). The fuel pump relay is a good place to start. In my experience the car will be dead 2-5 minutes then start again if its the relay. The intervals will be completely random which makes diagnosis hard.
