Leaking gas 850 1997

On my 95 850 I found the sealant or compound that is designed to seal or support the wiring that goes into the pump housing to be deteriorated by fuel. I suspect that there is a small crack or some sort of leak around that area. I did as Klaus stated...removed the inspection plates, identified the leak, removed and cleaned up the plastic screw on pump housing nut and put it all back together. It hasn't leaked since. I do not fill it past 3/4.
