transmission flare after highway V70-XC70 2003

Howdy all,

I've been noticing lately (maybe 3 months?) that almost every time I come off a longer highway drive (say 45 minutes?) and after coming to a stop and starting up again I get a nasty flare. Can't say how high it's revving, but it's really obvious. Transmission dying?? I'm probably going to get the fluid changed, so hoping that will fix it. Or hoping it's some sort of program that is doing this on purpose. I'm at around 140,000 km XC70 2003. Thoughts?

Happy new year!
Thanks.
