Booster Hissing - other sources? V70-XC70 2002

The hiss is now more high pitched. Only change. Yesterday night I reseated the rubber boot around the booster shaft to the pedal.

This sound goes away when pressure is applied to the brake. Braking is still good. I'll check for the 1 inch give at startup.

New question - is excess pressure released inside the driver compartment from the booster? Could something like a release valve be stuck?

I just don't want to spend 550.00 on a part and a half day of work if it's not needed.

Thanks in advance for all insights and help.
James
