Can remotes lose their programming? V70-XC70 1999

In theory, no. Each remote has its own ID code and that is programmed into the transceiver in the car. That is why all remotes must be reentered when a new one is added to the car's security system.

Replacing a battery in a remote does not effect the code that is being transmitted, the code is fixed in each remote - hard wired.
