sudden coolant loss? V70-XC70

After fighting with coolant loss on my V70, I can recommend checking these areas:
1. Hose leaks.
2. Right side of the radiator as already described.
3. Look for cracks on the bottom of the expansion (reservoir) tank.
4. Heater core.

Ultimately, mine turned out to be a combination of 2, 3 and 4. Do not be intimidated by the heater core. It is much easier to change on S/V70s than most other cars. Also very easy to inspect. Pull back the carpeting next to the accelerator pedal and remove the plastic panel...There it is. If it's leaking, it will be slimy everywhere around it.
