Re: Old vs. New V70-XC70 1998

There is a visual feature I always look for and use it to show to other techs who haven't seen the two different ones. If you look up into the bottom of the SAS valve and it has what looks like a carter pin on the part of the valve that opens then it is the old one. When looking at an old one it is badly built up with exhaust "stuff", and the carter pin is brown and it looks like it should stick open. The new SAS valve is minus the pin and seems to not stick like the older ones. I have replace new ones but as a fall out of the vacuum solenoid valve failing and allowing the valve to be held open all the time, building up crud and making it hard to close and seat correctly.

Couldn't answer the part number difference, I'm sure they would supercede, I've never been given the old style from parts.
