Turbo Timer and Synthetic Oil S70 2000

I have a 2000 S-70 GLT with a low pressure turbo. We don't drive the car very hard-mostly highway driving at about 100-140 kms/hr.

A few questions:

1. Should I put a turbo timer into the car? What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing this? Is it even neccessary?

2. What is a good brand for Volvo? All the timers seem to be for Japanese cars. One friend suggested a HKS branded one-is it good or bad?

3. Would using Synthetic Oil for this car be better? Can I switch back and forth from synthetic and regular oil between changes (use synthetic in the winter and regular in the summer)?

Your knowledge would be most appreciated.

Thanks
