Gas door still won't open on first attempt, what's wrong? V70-XC70 2000

After two trips to the dealer reporting the very same gas door issue, it still won't open until toggling the switch 5 to 10 times. The techs lubed the door on first trip, no luck. Then they replaced a window switch solenoid (?) which interacts with the gas door circuit. It worked fine for the next two gas fill-ups but then started behaving like before. My wife came back last night completely pissed off as she couldn't get to open the door at the gas station. I tried it this morning at it finally opened after several tries. I know there's a way to manually open it, but it isn't convenient. Any suggestions here?
