Re: roof strips are deteriorating 850 94

Hello!

Interestingly enough, I had one of my roof strips start to flake and lose it's paint. The other strip has never had any trouble at all.

I tried several things (1) applying a flat black / gray paint -- This didn't stick to the strip material, and looked awful. (2) Applying the flat black paint and then putting a clear-coat layer over it -- same results. (3) Using crazy glue to adhere the flaking paint back onto the roof strip - - again, it just flakes off anyway.

Finally, I purchased a new roof strip from my dealer for about $125 or so, and installed it myself. It's a very easy installation, so don't bother to pay someone $50 to do it.

The replacement strip has been fine ever since, and my remaining original strip is still perfect, leading me to belive that the problem must have been in how the strips were painted at the factory.
