If you just had the oil changed "that day" (which day? the day you left and then parked it for three weeks?) that would be where I'd start pointing fingers. Silly question, did you check the dipstick to see if you still have oil? Oil changes, while simple, can be VERY scary and dangerous! I always check both the dipstick and EVERY PARKING SPACE I'M IN for a few days to be sure I have oil and that it's not dumped on the ground.

Who knows, maybe the new filter was defective and clogged, maybe one of the very small oil passages got blocked during the oil change (weird, but so it a bad motor at 48k). Are you still under warranty, by any act of G-d?

Maybe the holiday spirits will be there to help.
