Transmission 850 1993

I haven't driven my 850 GLT for about a month - when I went out to start it, the battery was almost dead. I finally got it started (without jumping) and I had some lights on (like the SRS, etc.). HERE'S THE PROBLEM: I took it out onto the Interstate - when I got to about 65 mph, the car started shifting back and forth and finally jumped out of gear completely. I pulled over and my transmission lights started flashing - (I have winter, econo, and sport setting lights) - they were all flashing. I asked a friend what the problem was and he said that when the battery dies or almost dies, there are certain things you have to reset - he told me I had to have the transmission computer reprogrammed or something like that. I have NEVER had a problem with that transmission - does anyone know if this reprogramming or resetting is really the cure? My dealer can't look at the car for atleast a month - if there's something I can try to fix thios problem, I'd like to do it. Thanks!
