Rattling noise from the front vents 850 1995

With cold weather upon us the A/C problems are forgotten and we are all about thermostats. Well, mine is OK, replaced at 70k.

This is my question. When I turn the heater fan in position 2 and up, there is some rattling noise from the front (above the radio) vents. It comes and goes 1 second on, 1 second off, realively low frequency (pitch is less than the fan, at least seems so, and independent of the fan speed). It rattles more when I make turns or brake. The heater itself is fine, but this is annoying in otherwise quiet car. Any ideas?
