Oil Change S40-V40 2001

Sorry if this topic has been covered recently.....

I'm a first time Volvo owner and in my other non-Volvo cars, I've always changed the oil at approximately 5k to 7k miles. The exception was when the cars were new -- I was told to have the oil change at 1500 to 3000 miles. However, the Volvo manual (as well as the other manuals) all state that oil changes can be made at 7500 miles.

So, which is it??? Should I make the first oil change at 1500 to 3000 miles... or, is it okay to wait until 7500 miles?

Thanks for your help.
