Don't idle, Drive off gently as if you were on ice for about 15 minutes.

That will do.

My XC with 65000 kms. of almost all high speed on highway and mountain roads is consuming 3/4 of a liter of synthetic 5/40 oil every 15,000 kms.

I never make short trips and always make my first 15 minutes gentle. After a fast trip I do my last 5-10 ks also at a gentle pace to cool off the turbo. This seems to help. I've seen newer V70 with much more oil consumption.

AFter 15.000 kms. the oil is still in good shape and has still a light brown "golden" colour.
