Thermostat, P0128 and shock recommendation V70-XC70

Hello, When the cold broke I replaced the low running thermostat-hence the P0128 code-in my '02 V70 base w/122K. My old stat let the temperature needle rise only 1/4 way-a bit higher when in slow moving conditions. I cannot believe how quickly the car reaches operating temp with it's new Wahler OE thermostat from a site sponsor. The receding snow let me rotate my tires 5 weeks after the most miserable oil change of my life. Voila', my RF strut is gushing oil. Please voice your experiences with replacement strut brands. Are Bilsteins worth the premium? Are Sachs simply good enough? Are the ones named for the 5th president sub-standard? Any input would be appreciated. I ask for the same advise for the rear shocks. They're not leaking at this time. I have no problem changing them unless they're known to last twice as long. It might sound funny but I honestly have no clue. I assume they're all but gone too. Also, I keep forgetting to look for mounting holes for a rear sway bar in my "plain Jane" V70. Does anybody know about that too? Thanks for your answers. Kira
