Trip Computer, How to turn on ... V70-XC70 1998

I have a 98' V70 that I want to "turn on" the trip computer feature.

I've read that in 98' it was a feature that could be enabled by the dealer for a small fee (yeah right!), but did not involve a software download as per the 99' - 00'.

I've gotten the knob for the dashboard from my local PNP, and the instrument cluster to go with. That's how I know it works and all the wiring is good.

So my question is how do I enable it?? I'm assuming it is through the OBDII port but am unsure.

Has anyone out there done this before with a OBDII programmer? I'm at least willing to give a whirl with the used instrument cluster that I purchased. I could try turning it off on that one and then turning it back on to see if I have it correct without risking my own instrument cluster.

Please advise if you can.

Thanks in advance,

Matt
