Re: Shift lock solenoid 850 1994

Do these solenoids employ, in parallel, a diode, to try to help protect

the switch contacts and electrical system against the back_EMF when the

solenoid returns to the original position?

I noticed (by observing the slightly anomalous behavior of various devices

that I'd used in other cars) that my car's electrical system seemed kinda

"skikey", voltage-wise. In response, I added a large (1000 uFd?) 16V

electrolytic capacitor across the power supply (in driver's footwell area),

which seems to have smoothed things out (ie, my Valentine 1 no longer acts

perturbed when I actuate the horn or wipers...).
