Re: Oil Changes V70-XC70 2001

I just changed my oil for the first time, and it was a snap. No special tools required for the do-it-yourselfer. You must remove the plastic belly pan with the obvious bolts. With that out of the way, the filter is found at the front, passenger corner of the engine, near the oil drain bolt. I used a cheap strap wrench to remove the filter (you can't get a lot of purchase with the strap, but it's enough). Since it is sealed with an o-ring, it does not need to be very tight to seal well, and is pretty easy to remove. Be prepared for the standard mess, and it goes very smoothly. Really it's about the easiest oil change I've done.
