2000 V70 hesitation V70-XC70

I just bought a 2000 V70 non-turbo with 150,000 miles. The car has a hesitation and surges a bit. No check engine light is. Any ideas what the problem or problems could be? I know this year is known for hesitation problems. Had two previous 1998 S70s and never experienced this.
