I will vouch for KC on this one - my 1998 also does a cray loud noise from the SAS/PAIR pump when hot from time to time. I cannot replicate it on demand and have been unable to discern any kind of pattern.

Not sure why it happens sometimes but it definitely does. I have been unable to link it to any other symptom / behaviuor either. Very strange.
