Alternator removal V70-XC70 1999

It's easy to do. Remove the serpentine belt with 14mm wrench on the tensioner. The alternator is held in place by 3 bolts. One is at about the 10 o'clock position when you are facing the alternator from the passenger side. The other two are also the top mounting bolts for the A/C compressor. They don't need to be removed completely...just pulled back. You also have to loosen the bottom 2 bolts on the A/C compressor from under the car just to loosen it so the alternator will pull out. Make sure the battery is disconnected before you disconnect the cable from the back...the black cover just pulls off to expose the nut.
