My car has been fully serviced by Volvo since new at least every 6 mths. I use either Volvo or now Castrol SRF fluid.

Remember that brakes used hard (the tiny front brakes on an 850R qualify!) cause particulates to form from rubber seals, caliper bores etc. The ABS/TRACS unit on these Volvos seems to be particularly susceptible as shown in the large number of failures just after brake work being performed.

I agree with your comments about regular maintenance. However, the stats aren't lying. As for Volvo repair method, perhaps this method should be considered in the future. I note that a local Volvo repair centre has now started using this method.
