Flashing up arrow for the first time on 94 850! 850

The only code it ever threw was the A2 222 solenoid break - did not check it yesterday as i had to go to work. That's my task today after work! This is the old watch the light deal as opposed to OBD2

Had the car three years - bought it cheap because it had dirty trans fluid and dealer told the prior owner the trans was shot. Changed and flushed maybe three times during the past three years and put a Magnefine filter in. Runs great and the AC still works well - I don't want to lose this one because my 98 needs an evaporator job to make the AC go!

Actually I was amazed that for the first two years I never had a check engine code ever. Immediately after the new PNP was installed, the 222 code showed up and never went away.

Today I will drain 4qts of trans fluid, change oil and put in the new plugs I had planned on installing.

In the back of my mind, I am wondering if I inadvertently hit the winter mode switch right before it happened. But last week I had noticed the shift point was higher (like sport mode) but not flashing arrow - it just seemed different. Now back to normal.

Will the 93 trans TCU work in the 94, that's another question?

I want to avoid trying to replacing any trans solenoid as the descriptions I have seen on the Matthews Volvo site make it sound like a terrible dyi job.

As always car repairs are needed exactly at the moment you have no dough to spare. And after I messed up the suspension on my 98 V70 XC this weekend.

Oh well!
