Re: coolant light on 850 94

Greg,

I have had the same flickering coolant light problem when first starting a cold engine. I added coolant several times over the last 2 months to bring the level up above the min mark on the reservoir tank, which temporarily solved the problem each time. Finally, I closely inspected the underside of the rear of the engine [ non -turbo 1995 850 wagon ], and discovered coolant seepage near the water pump. The dealer replaced the water pump 1 1/2 weeks ago at no cost, since I just paid to have it replaced last June [ 63K miles ]. The dealer claimed the pump he put in back in June must have been defective. He said it had a seeping freeze plug.

Check out the water pump.

Jim
