Re: CD Changer 850 1995

The OEM Volvo changer sold through your dealers parts department IS made by Alpine BUT it's costlier than a similar Alpine changer sold at a car stereo place such as Best Buy. The OEM unit has a unique DIN plug adaptor and cable that's only used by Volvo and it allows controls through the radio head unit, so if you try to use the aftermarket Alpine, it won't plug in (different adaptor) so you won't be able to use the indash radios controls for the changer, it'll have it's own remote control instead.

You can use ANY aftermarket changer you want, but it'll have its own seperate remote control, that's all.

If you want the radio controls but want to save money, you might want to check the classifieds here first (or post a WTB ad) because I've seen them for sale there before (that's IF you want to chance a used changer?).
