Re: CD Changer 850 1995

We have an Alpine in our 95. You do need a special adaptor and

then it works fine from the head unit. I believe later model

Volvos did not need the adaptor. IPD listed adaptor in their catalog

at one time (www.ipdusa.com). As I recall, you will have to wire

in a constant 12V. source to the adaptor. Then, plug one end into

the radio and the other to the Alpine CD's cable and you are good

to go.

Still, a used SC816 might be a better way to go. It will plug

right in and includes CD and cassette. You will want one from

an 850 so the color will match your dash (an 816 from a 70 series

will work but the radio bezel is gray, not black, to match the

70 series gray plastic interior).
