Transmission shot or not? Help! 850

I have had my 94 850 in the shop for two weeks. It had the flashing arrow deal ( hate that darn arrow) and gave the S2 solenoid break code. My garage replaced all 3 (with an aftermarket kit on Ebay for 120) which I know was taking a chance. We replaced the trans TCU with a used one from a car with 124K.

After replacing the solenoids and the TCU the solenoid code is gone but now it's doing a torque converter lock up, stalling and not going into reverse. I am now realizing I am throwing good money after bad. Is the trans toast and should I just junk the car?

Really sad, because it's a great 850 with working AC and was very dependable for over 3 years. And I have no money to buy another car - so it looks like hooptyville for me this summer - a junker car is in my future for sure.

Is it shot for sure, my garage is still not sure, so grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
