850 Resale Sucks 850 97 R

As most of you know I am attempting to get rid of my Volvo on trade for a new car. Well my dealer has just informed me that he can only give me $14k for the car. This for a very clean 1997 R with 69k miles that retailed for almost $40k. Needless to say I am in shock. He is telling me that the Volvo dealers in Chicago can't give away the 850s.

What really pisses me off is that I almost bought a BMW 328 for the same price but went for the R instead because I believed that Volvo's had better resales. Well the tradein value on a 97 328 with 69k miles is $22k. In other words BMW has kicked Volvo's butt in the resale market.

Just a warning to anyone thinking about buying an 850.
