Please confirm engine type, is it B18E, with Fenix 3.2 ignition?

The fault tests vary between different systems. I would plug in your strobe light rather than hold wire near the block. If it runs, see if the timimg advance is OK. The advance is automatic, ie there are no specs, but it still should be sililar to a conventional system (eg 5-30 degrees or so).

Do you have Haynes or other manual, it outlines the tests for the various flavours of ignition?
