1997 850 T-5 Rear Brake Issue - Loud Moan - Massive Vibration 850 1997

Hi,

I have a 1997 850 T-5 with about 140,000 on it.

Just today, I was coming to a rather fast stop, the anti-lock brakes kicked in and seemed normal for the front brakes, but from the rear I heard this very loud moaning sound and a massive amount of vibration/shutter from the rear. The moaning sound was similar to what you'd some times hear when you firt apply your brakes after going through a car wash. So, I thought this might have been a one time thing, so I tried a quick stop a 2nd time, and the front brakes seemed to function like they should, but I heard that loud moaning sound from the rear including the vibration/shutter. Are the rear brakes failing? Are they sticking? What the heck is going on? Is it safe to drive my car? The car still seemed to stop okay.

Thank you,

Michael
