V50 T5 AWD - K&N Intake Kit V50

I recently removed the stock Volvo system and installed K&N's air intake system (Part #69-9000TS) from IPD on my 2008 V50 T5 AWD, which I purchased used last August with 90K miles. I like the results a lot, except that the engine compartment now emits a high-pitch whistling noise only between 1800-2000 rpm. I've triple-checked to ensure that all the connections are tight. Any thoughts or theories? Is this normal? Thanks!
