Which Systems Affect Fuel Economy?

So many little things can be detremental to MPG. My 1998 with AWD only gets 26mpg on the highway (measured) and 21mpg combined (computer).

I think the tires have a lot to do with it, agressive tread. My O2 sensors are probably original (188K miles). My air guide under the engine is gone, PO removed it. My turbo needs a new seal, oil is getting into the cumbustion at boost. It is almost time for new mufflers, back pressure is probably reduced due to the holes :>)

Don't get me wrong! I love this car. It does not get the mpg of a Honda Civic, but it is still so much better than the run of the mill SUV which can carry less and is less comfortable to sit in.
