98 v70 center console wood replacement V70-XC70

I am trying to remove the center console to replace the broken wood insert.
I undid the 2 8mm bolts in the storage compartment, removed the ashtray, unsnapped the lower front sides from the front part of the console.
I can lift up the back part and pull it back a bit, but can't seem to get it to move any more than that. I also wonder how does it get by the handbrake mechanism.
I checked on volvospeed.com, but it seems the relevant article is gone. Some of their internal links seem to be not working...
