Service light won't reset 850 1993

I can't get the service light to reset on my 1993 850 (5 spd, non-turbo, 159 k miles).

I've followed the directions from Bay 13. I've looked for the reset button to the left on the instrument cluster..none.

Car runs fine. No indication of problem. Just got it and have service records up to last 10 k. Spoke to dealer yesterday, previous owner did good job of maintaining it. Did q lot of work 10 k ago, but didn't change out timing belt. Hence it will get a new one next week.

Does the service light only count miles or does it read and identify problems. If it is "smart", how do I check for error codes?

Thanks
