AC fiasco 850 1996

Thank you so much for the info on my AC problem. What you said worked perfectly, I jumped the pressostat and the compressor started running. But....after getting the freon pumped in to the proper level, I reconnected the pressostat and suddenly the compressor started cycling on and off. It made a clicking noise and would then run for maybe a count of 10sec. then it went off. And it kept doing this over and over and there still is no cold air comming in the car. I am afraid to run it again as I don't want it to get damaged. Can you give me any idea why it cycles on and off and what the click noise may be? Also why isn't the air colder now that the freon is back in the system? Any help greatly appreciated.
