Thumping brakes 850

Today my '95 850 started thumping when braking and seemed to be getting worse
quickly on a short 4 mile round trip. I didn't hear any of the usual screeching sounds that you get with a worn out brake puck. No time to look at it today but I'll be at it tomorrow AM and start by looking at the brake pads and rotors.
I don't have any experience with ABS and wonder if there's anything else to check?
There was no ABS idiot light on.
