AC quits V70-XC70 1999

We went away for the weekend and a couple of times during the trip the AC quit cooling. It seemed to do this after getting back on the road after we had sat idling for several minutes, like when one of us went into a shop and the other sat idling in the car. I found that I could turn it off for a few minutes and it would work fine when I turned it back on as we drove. I checked the freon before the trip and it seemed fine, holding 45psi while cooling. I haven't put the gauges on it since we got back. Any ideas what's going on? TIA
