Bad Water Pump 850

Hi all. Can someone tell me how you know if your water pump is bad?

I changed my timing belt, water pump gasket and bolts (not water pump itself) and now there is coolant leaking that looks like it is coming from the water pump area. w/o having time to take the belts off and pump off "again", i'd like to know what the symptoms of a bad water pump are before I order the kit.

The bolts had blue seal tack, and i used copper spray on the gasket. It's my second gasket install after over tightening a bolt that sheared off. I got the broken stud out and the new one went in with out it seeming stripped or other problems.

thoughts/opinions appreciated
tnx
