98 v70 a/c not cooling as well as in the past V70-XC70

Hi Guys,
Over the past couple of weeks, my v70 doesnt cool as well [given it has generally been in the mid to high 90s one might expect that] however, over the past several summers, it cooled very nicely even on the near 100 days.

Figuring i am on borrowed time on the Evaporator, i put a guage on the low side and the temp reading was about 48 degrees. I hate that volvo did not put a high pressure port on these systems but ambient temp was about 95 and the a/c was on full.

also, i have the manual control module but when recurculate is selected i am suspecting that it may not be functioning properly as every now the fan gets much louder as if it is drawing air from the cabin then reverts to quiter as if drawing air from the outside.

Anyone else experience this?
