Specifics on Programmable Wiper Relay? 850

From various searches, it is apparent that the Programmable Wiper Relay (that allow you to adjust the delay interval on the intermittent setting) was original equipment on certain Volkswagons and/or other German/Swedish (Bosh-equipt) cars of the the 1990s.

There is a tremendous amount of misinformation out there as to which version of this relay works with the 850.

Does anyone know what cars this special relay came on, and what relay is the one that will actually work?

I know that the relay is available from IDP, but I'm looking to find one in a junkyard.

Anyone know?
