How to tell if my car has n

Definitely call dealer service with your VIN to find out, but I would be willing to bet that you don't have nivomats.

Your car is a 2004 which means it's less than 10 years old and probably has about 150k miles on it? It's uncommon for nivomats to fail at this mileage/age unless they've been really pushed throughout their service life with heavy towing all the time. I would expect nivomats to last for at /least/ 10 years and at /least/ 200k miles.
