S40 advice S40-V40

Hello,
In the market for another brick. Trying to find one with good mpg for $4400 or less. I saw that a S40 would have decent mpg. Looking at a'03. Have a great volvo mechanic so I will be bringing him the car-whichever one it is-to inspect. I'm really writing you because I had to sigh when I read your sign off-1991 240 gone too soon at +250k miles. I have a '91 240 that's hitting 293K. I bought it w/156K in '02. I have oil changed every 3K but I need to put in a newer radio, a/c needs freon and the tailpipe is being held up with a bungy cord. I'm sure anyone driving behind me gets a chuckle and realizes TIMES are really tight. Sometimes, I wish my Dad was a gearhead instead of a sports fan. lol Anyway, thanks for the info on s40. There's a rare '89 240 w/46,800K original. It's burgundy and very clean. The price is around $3000K. Thinking about it. lol ciao
