The repair is not complicated, the strips just pull out, care must be taken with the little plastic bit at the rear, but it is expensive. Call and ask your local Volvo dealer for the price- they are like 150 bucks each or so.

There have been many different repairs for this problem described on the board, from outright replacement(the best and expensive method) to painting- seems to crack, to my cheap and fairly easy fix. I peeled all the loose rubberized coating stuff off and went to my local Autozone store and bought inch and a half( I think that was the size) black detail tape for 7 dollars. It covers both sides and after the second year it still looks great.
